About Natascha

Hi, my name is Natascha, but my students call me Ms. C!
Since you are just getting to know me I thought I might share with you some small bits of information about myself.

A little bit about my credentials:
I completed my Bachelors of Arts in Linguistics with a minor in Germanic Studies at University of California Riverside. I completed my Masters of Arts in Teaching shortly thereafter, at the University of Southern California, and decided to get my  Special Education in addition to my Multiple Subject during the same program.

I have taught two years of English to non-native speakers, and am now in my second year of teaching German to mostly non-natives as well!

A little about myself:
I enjoy reading books, sitting on the beach and I LOVE to do arts and crafts, such as sewing, redoing furniture, baking cakes, and crocheting. I love Iced teas, and Chai-tea lattes so much, that my friends joke that my classroom runs on LOVE and Starbucks!

A little about my teaching philosophy:
I firmly believe that we all should be life long learners, we learn from every instance, mistake and success we ever make. Bruce Lee once said, " Learning is never cumulative, it is a movement of knowing, which has no beginning and no end."

And lastly....

A little quote from Goethe himself:
"Everywhere, we learn only from those whom we love."

High Frequency Word Freebies :D #HFW #Freebies

So I always want those High Frequency Word (HFW) worksheets... you know the one with the word, you trace, color, cut and paste....
HOWEVER I don't want to pay money for them. I am cheap, a new teacher, and I just don't have money for it. I honestly don't have time to make them, but I did because:

Number 1: I can't guarantee that the worksheets are what I want

Number 2: I don't usually like other peoples work... not to say people don't make good work, I just always choose the one that's not what I was looking for :/

So this dilemma has led me to make them.

And because I went through H-E double HOCKEY STICKS errr.... I mean a lot of time and work..... to make it, I thought I would share the wealth. I wish there was more really GOOD free content on the web.

Anyway... now that my rant is finished, HERE are the freebies :D

This is what they look like :)

Creating the Classroom !

So I finally got my very first, very own job!

I am officially a Kinder-Teacher!

Low key of course ; )

Any ways I have been a busy bumble bee updating and fixing up my classroom.
The finished math area

the writing board

how many high frequency words they know (We are reading out high frequency words and popping with knowledge`)

how many letters and sounds they know
(We are soarin' and leapin' to know our sounds and letters)
my girls are the butterflies, and the boys are the frogs !

This is currently a birthday stars chart,
BUT I am thinking of changing it ... yes already !

This weeks art lesson :D - We are on an animal unit, this week was frogs!

The High Frequency Word Door!
Want to come into the classroom? You have to read a word.

Of course I have much more to do, like laminate all the titles I put up on my boards (sorry about that looking a little rusty right now...) but I am putting up pictures, and you can see the jist of it until I have it fully perfected :D

thats all for now

I do plan on hanging things from the ceilings,
but of course that will come at a later time !

Until later

Take chances, make mistakes, get messy! - Miss Frizzle

Hello Bloggers! Ms. C here.

Now that Halloween has come around, the need for a super awesome costume for school has become high priority.

Could I buy a costume, yes, BUT

Do I like their quality ? - NO.
Do I want to pay a lot of money ? - NO

Do I have time to shop for a decent looking one? - NO

So natural solution, make your own.
DIY-ers, you know better than I do, that a need to create your own things comes on strongly during the holidays, so I just couldn't resist making my own costume.

After much contemplation, and looking through what old clothes I was throwing away, I came up with an idea. What better to be on Halloween at a school, then a Magic Teacher? Miss Frizzle and the Magic School Bus!!!

I had an old dress that was plain and an open canvas. And bought some supplies. I will give you a list of things you need to recreate this.
Hit goodwill or some second hand store, get an old plain or super crazy looking dress :D
I got mine from a friend

I bought some felt sheets

Some tape or Iron on sticky stuff, or sewing is the best solution, however it takes the longest time.

Grab some scissors laying around your house (or buy some if you need to)

Next cut out the shapes you want.
As you know Miss Frizzle wears a dress based on her day, so pick anything you would like.
I chose school themes, because I want to use it for school all the time.

Here are some other shape ideas

Now that you have it cut, you can sew, stick on, or iron on. I ironed on because I threw it together the day before Halloween, but  I will go back later and sew on the pieces to ensure they stick.

Here we added on the cut outs and left to hang.

Next I made a coffee cup with my Magic School Bus
Just grab a dollar tree decorate your own cup, add in the picture and call that quits

The end product

Wonderfully Wicked Wands... for teachers that is!

I have an addiction, I am a Pinterester!
I can't help myself.
I see a pin I love, and the moment I get seconds to breathe in my busy schedule, I AM CRAFTING!

Came upon a nifty pin showing teacher sticks, or wands, or pointers... whatever you call them, I thought they were adorable, and I decided I CAN MAKE THIS!

So I did.

I used spray paint, some sticks from Michaels and spray painted them black!

Then I attached these super cute wooden cut outs I found at Michaels, Walmart, and crafting stores.
Tied some ribbon, some ABC ribbon, and Super Glued/Hot Glued them like crazy...

End Product

And of course, my personal favorite!
